The Food and Drug Administration has authorized the first Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use in the U.S., the agency announced Friday night — the first official step toward a possible end to the nation's pandemic. The vaccine, made by Pfizer and its partner, BioNTech, is expected to be shipped nationwide as soon as this weekend, earmarked for front-line health care workers, as well as staff working at long-term care facilities. The first vaccinations could begin in just a few days. |
