Congressional leaders reached a compromise late Saturday that is expected to garner passage of an approximately $900 billion Covid relief bill that includes direct cash payments to Americans and unemployment benefits. After negotiations late into the night, Republicans agreed to drop a provision that would have limited the Federal Reserve's power during future financial downturns, an issue that had threatened to derail the stimulus package. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said the bill could get a vote on Sunday. |
