Trump misses a self-imposed deadline to release Supreme Court shortlist

President Donald Trump promised voters he would release a shortlist of Supreme Court prospects by Sept. 1. That deadline came and went with no such document.

The president has missed self-imposed deadlines before, failing to release a promised health care plan, infrastructure bill and executive orders on immigration as scheduled. But the Supreme Court list represents a central issue for Trump, one that helped him win the White House in 2016 — and with 58 days to go until the election, time is running short.
