A tightening race in North Carolina has prompted calls for Joe Biden to visit a state key to President Donald Trump's path to victory. Interviews with a number of voters, current and former party officials, political strategists, pollsters and politics watchers paint a picture of a critical battleground that remains within the grasp of an unpopular president. Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and other campaign surrogates have made multiple trips to the state in recent months, while Biden promised last week a trip was on his to-do list. "Doesn't have to be anything huge," one Biden supporter said. "But his presence here would make a difference." |
