American bullfrog on pond edge

American bullfrogs (Lithobates catesbeianus) are voracious predators native to the eastern half of the United States. Their aggressive nature makes them a problem when introduced to new ecosystems. That is the case over much of the western half of the United States where the species has been spreading for the past century.
