Tropical Storm Isaias regained hurricane strength Monday night as it made landfall in North Carolina as a Category 1 storm, while forecasters warned of dangerous winds and storm surge it will bring. A hurricane warning was in place for a stretch of coast from the South Santee River in South Carolina to Surf City in North Carolina. The Carolinas and Mid-Atlantic regions were expected to see around 3 to 6 inches of rainfall, with isolated maximums of 8 inches, according to the hurricane center. |
