Hurricane Hanna on path to bring heavy rain and coastal flooding to Texas, as state struggles with coronavirus surge

A tropical storm that was upgraded to a hurricane Saturday morning is threatening the coast of Texas as the state struggles under a surge of coronavirus cases. Hurricane Hanna, the first of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season, is set to bring heavy rains, coastal floods and possible tornadoes, with landfall expected south of Corpus Christi Saturday afternoon or evening.

Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb said the city is prepared. "Don't feel like since we've been fighting COVID for five months that we're out of energy or we're out of gas," he said Friday. "We can do these two things together, and we're going to win both of them."
