Hill Republicans struggle to navigate Trump's sinking approval

Less than four months before the election, Senate Republicans are walking on a thinning tightrope as President Donald Trump's standing takes a beating in the polls. In a normal presidency, they'd be racing to distance themselves from him, but amid two major national crises Trump has put GOP senators in an unusual predicament.

"There's absolutely no political gain to be running from Trump," says one Republican operative. "But there's plenty of risk in sticking with him, too."
