Jul 02, 2020 BREAKING: U.S. economy gains 4.8 million jobs as unemployment rate falls to 11.1 percent The U.S. economy gained around 4.8 million jobs in June and the unemployment rate dropped to 11.1 percent. That's down from 13.3 percent in May, according to the monthly employment report released Thursday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.The data again beat economists' expectations after May's surprise gains and comes as the country struggles to reopen safely amid soaring coronavirus cases.
