Introducing Severn Run's Cazador (Caz)

Collection Highlights Severn Run's Cazador (Caz) Can a dog identify a deadly pest? That is what Dr. John B. Welch, USDA Entomologist, wanted to know. In 1988 Dr. Welch began training Severn Run's Cazador, or Caz, a German wire-haired pointer, to sniff out screwworms and the infested animals. Trained in a matter of months, Caz accompanied Dr. Welch on trips to Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, and Texas to enthusiastically demonstrate his technique.
