TULSA, Okla. – A Commerce man pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to distribution of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

A former tax return preparer in Roanoke, Virginia, was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison today, announced Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Richard E. Zuckerman of the Justice Department's Tax Division and U.S. Attorney Thomas T. Cullen for the Western District of Virginia.

This week, defendants were sentenced for possession of heroin, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and racketeering.

TULSA, Okla. – U.S. Attorney Trent Shores joined Attorney General William P. Barr, FBI Director Christopher A. Wray, and Chief Postal Inspector Gary R. Barksdale today in announcing the largest coordinated sweep of elder fraud cases in history. This year, prosecutors charged more than 400 defendants, far surpassing the 260 defendants charged in cases as part of last year's sweep. In each case, offenders allegedly engaged in financial schemes that targeted or largely affected seniors. In total, the charged elder fraud schemes caused alleged losses of over a billion dollars.
