Super Tuesday state of the race: Biden wins 6 states, Sanders takes 2

Joe Biden scored wins in six states on Super Tuesday and Bernie Sanders prevailed in his home state of Vermont and Colorado, according to NBC News projections.

The early results are an indicator that, with delegate-rich Texas and California and four other states still to report, Biden appeared to be well positioned to give Sanders a run for the nomination. The goal of the primary is to amass delegates to capture the nomination, not popular votes, and winning states does not necessarily mean a candidate will win the most delegates.
