Coronavirus Resources

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has resources to help workers and employers prepare for the COVID-19 virus (also known as novel coronavirus). Topics include workplace safety, wages, hours, leave, and information for injured federal workers. One of the resources available on DOL's coronavirus website is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's "Guidance on Preparing Workplaces for COVID-19," to help companies respond in the event of coronavirus in the workplace.

EARN Newsletter

The Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion (EARN) released its March 2020 Newsletter. Highlighted are the addition of new company profiles to EARN's Neurodiversity in the Workplace webpage, updates to its State Government webpage, and more.

Employment First Webinar Archive

The Employment First Community of Practice webinar on "Expanding Partnerships: Career Pathways, Opportunities and Challenges" is now available. In the webinar, a team from the District of Columbia discussed their initiatives to ensure that Employment First efforts extend to Career Pathways partners, including the development of cross-system Memoranda of Understanding. The team developed formal agreements and activities to promote co-enrollment, data and resource sharing, adult education, credentialing programs, vocational rehabilitation, supported employment, and Individual Placement and Support (IPS) services to support the inclusion of people with disabilities in the workforce.

Job Accommodation Network Blog

Linda Carter Batiste, J.D., Principal Consultant at the Job Accommodation Network (JAN), wrote a guest blog for Choose Work about service animals in the workplace. She explained that the Americans with Disabilities Act provides no guidance on this issue. Batiste outlined some of the questions that JAN receives on the topic, and presented some practical ideas for approaching employers about bringing service animals to work.
