The following Global Agricultural Information Network (GAIN) report was released on Tuesday, March 10, 2020

EU-27+UK: Poultry and Products Semi-annual

EU-27+UK chicken meat production is expected to increase slightly again in 2020 driven by both domestic and export demand. However, it will grow at a slower pace due to an HPAI outbreak in Poland. In recent years, EU-27+UK consumers have been switching to chicken meat from other types of meat as it is less expensive and easy to prepare. Imports are forecast to increase by 2 percent in 2020, with about 15 percent of imports projected to come from Ukraine, now a major supplier. In 2020, EU27+UK exports are expected to stagnate to Sub-Saharan Africa and to Asia due to the HPAI-related embargoes on Polish chicken meat in several export markets.
