March 2: Commerce offering rural Community Development Block Grant

Commerce offers Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) General Purpose Grants to rural (CDBG non-entitlement) cities/towns and counties in 2020 for a wide range of activities that benefit low- and moderate-income people and strengthen communities.

The application period will open March 2 at 8 a.m. and applications must be submitted by June 3 at 5 p.m.

Eligible applicants are cities and towns with population less than 50,000, not participating in a CDBG Entitlement Urban County Consortium; and counties with populations less than 200,000 as listed here.

Eligible activities include infrastructure improvements, community facilities, local housing rehabilitation programs, local micro-enterprise assistance programs and planning.

Application workshops are March 2 and March 19. Registration information is on the CDBG program website. Please review the website for program requirements and updates. Applications will be accepted only through ZoomGrants.
