Antonio (Tony) Rios Named Acting Director for DLHWC

The U.S. Department of Labor announced that Antonio (Tony) Rios will serve as Acting Director for the Division of Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation (DLHWC) effective January 3, 2020. This announcement follows the retirement of former DLHWC Director Doug Fitzgerald in December. Some of you will recall that Tony served as the Director of OWCP's Longshore program from 2013 to 2016, during which time he led the division's transformation from a paper-based operation to a system of program-wide electronic filing and data exchange processes.

In the coming months, Tony will oversee the deployment of OWCP's new case management system (OWCS) in the Longshore program while also leading the Division of Federal Employees' Compensation (DFEC) in his capacity as DFEC Director. Deployment of the OWCS system is scheduled for the spring of 2020, and all changes associated with its deployment will be initially communicated to the program's stakeholders at the Loyola Annual Longshore Conference in New Orleans this March.
