Location:   Office of the Attorney General, Department of Natural Resources 580 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, Maryland 21401

Description:   The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for a Paralegal II position for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR).  The position will provide paralegal and administrative support to at least five Assistant Attorneys General representing DNR. Responsibilities include drafting of correspondence and pleadings; organization and preparation of documents for discovery; assistance in all aspects of litigation; real estate transactional support; research and general administrative support.

Innovation and energy go hand in hand.

On Friday, I wrote that unexpected benefits can come out of crises, using the oil embargoes of the 1970s as an example.

Following the 1973 Yom Kippur War, the Arab states of OPEC restricted oil exports to most of the Western world, which caused the price of crude oil to skyrocket.

And just a few years later, in 1979, we had a second oil crisis due to the Iran-Iraq war reducing both countries’ crude oil output.

In both cases, dependence on oil imports from unstable parts of the world rocked our economy. It contributed to the stagflation and general economic malaise of the era.

But it also spurred a wave of innovation that’s shaped the world we live in today.

A wave that is building once again…

China Learns From Russia's Financial Setbacks

Russia’s military prepared for its invasion of Ukraine for some time.

But the war isn’t proceeding as it planned.

Now, we know to expect this in military operations.

A Prussian field marshal noted in the 1800s that no plan of operations extends with certainty beyond the first encounter with the main enemy forces.

Military units know they’ll have to adapt once the battle begins.

However, bankers may not understand that.
