Viola Pendergrass, 79, was stabbed to death in her home at the Little Rock Apartments in Charlotte, North Carolina, on February 7, 1992. There were no apparent signs of forced entry, but money from her social security checks was missing. There was DNA on her nightgown and the knife, but the identity of her killer is still a mystery. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating.
The body of Juan Muñoz was discovered in the Río Grande River near Taos, New Mexico nearly three months after he went missing on February 20, 2021. The 20-year-old was last seen at the National Guard Armory in Río Rancho. When he didn't show up for drill the following day, his sergeant reported him missing. Juan's car was found on February 21, at the Río Grande Gorge Bridge near Taos. The New Mexico State Police continue to investigate.
A Florida man who was arrested in connection to missing mom Leila Cavett last summer is facing a new charge of second-degree murder. Shannon Ryan remains in Broward County Jail without bond. Leila Cavett, of Georgia, was last seen July 25, 2020, just hours before her son was found wandering alone at a Miramar apartment complex. Leila's body has not been found. The Hollywood Police Department in Florida and the FBI are investigating.
