House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and members of the Congressional Black Caucus on Monday unveiled far-reaching legislation to overhaul policing in the U.S. The bill would ban chokeholds and no-knock warrants in drug cases, improve training, including on racial bias, and establish a national database to track police use of force, among other things. "The martyrdom of George Floyd gave the American experience a moment of national anguish" that is "being transformed into a movement of national action," Pelosi said in unveiling the bill. |
