The Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs created Providing Opportunities for Women's Economic Rise or "POWER" as part of the White House-led Women's Global Development and Prosperity (W-GDP) Initiative.  POWER connects American businesswomen and entrepreneurs with counterparts overseas through programs developed by our embassies and consulates.

The United States is experiencing one of its most significant eras of economic expansion.  Full participation by women in the economy is a large part of this success.  Women entrepreneurs promote stronger and healthier economies that advance economic freedom, and lead to more prosperous and more stable societies overall.
