May 31, 2020 BREAKING: Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison to lead prosecution of George Floyd case Minnesota's governor appointed state Attorney General Keith Ellison on Sunday to lead the prosecution of any cases arising from the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody last week. Ellison, a Democrat who represented Minneapolis in Congress from 2007 to 2019, said he would work with Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman to see that justice is done for Floyd, whose family asked that he take over the case Saturday.
